Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) Awareness Program

Introduction

Premiere International College (PIC) prioritizes a safe and healthy environment for all students and employees. Aligning with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act (DFSCA) regulations, PIC establishes this comprehensive Drug-Free Awareness Program. Our program actively discourages the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees.

Definition of Terms

For clarity, we define key terms used throughout this program:

Illegal or Illicit Drugs

A controlled substance in schedules I through V of section 202 of the Controlled Substance Act (21 U.S.C. 812) “illegal drugs” shall not mean the use of a controlled substance pursuant to a valid prescription or other uses authorized by law.

Addiction

A compulsive physiological need for alcohol or an illegal drug.

Alcohol

Any alcoholic beverage containing ethanol.

Controlled Substance

Any drug listed in schedules I through V or section 202 of the Controlled Substance Act (21 U.S.C. 812). (A list of controlled substances is available on the DEA website https://www.dea.gov/drug-information/drug-scheduling.

Drug Paraphernalia

Any equipment used to facilitate the production, use, or concealment of illegal drugs.

Substance Abuse

The misuse of a substance including alcohol or the use of a substance to an extent deemed deleterious or detrimental to the user, to others, or to society.
